I found the weekend very inspiring. I’m going to have a go at the novella in flash genre she was talking about . I had t heard of it before.

No me neither but it sounds like a good half way house between a big book & a little poem. Happy creating Astrid ✍️

Rae, your poem really speaks to me. I would love to be more tree. I understand about the audio. Don't worry, my Speechify app read your post to me. I went looking for a British accent and found Ali Abdaal, who read it beautifully.

Thanks Michelle, so glad you enjoyed it ☺️ How cool there’s an app that reads in specific accents, the world really is moving on at a rate of knots. I love the idea of Ali Abdaal reading my poem…I think I’ll try the speechify app!

You do the coolest courses, Rae! Equine therapy, nature walks and forest bathing? 💚💚💚

I also want to be more tree and find the community that nourishes my roots.

I love your poetree! 🌳 Especially “gentle as a spore on the breeze.” 🍄‍🟫

Wish I lived closer to both Puzzlewood and Sherwood Forest.

I think your son’s reaction to being in the woods is quite primitive and natural to us all. I suspect we are wired to respond with awe and delight to the wonders of nature, given the opportunity. It’s lovely to see it happen, especially in children.

Haha a lichen by any other pronunciation would still be wondrous. But I’m likin’ your new-found pronunciation. If I’d heard you pronounce it the former way I would’ve just thought it the English vs the American way.🤣

I just stopped to consider what I have learned to day and remembered that this morning a White-Crowned Sparrow taught me that a bird can have a long intimate conversation with you (for 5 minutes, no exaggeration!) even tho you don’t speak the same language. I love that every day is a learning day. Thanks for that, and all your loveliness. 😘🥰

Thanks lovely Melanie ☺️ If you ever find yourself in the area of either of those woods let me know.

Nature does delight, you’re very right & I love that you’re likin’ my lichen pronunciation 🤣

Learning from a sparrow is an amazing way to learn ♥️ I had a similar conversation with a robin once, how cool is it that we get to live here on this wonderful planet? 🌍

Have a fab weekend lovely Mel.

Lovely thoughts and photos. You've explained this idea so well. I agree we'd all be better off if we rooted like a tree, spread our branches, shared our leaves, and reached for the sun. Your writing retreat sounds like it was fun.
